Anakie State School was established in 1885 and has three double teaching blocks, an early education centre, a separate library building, a music room and a staff room. The P&C has installed air-conditioning units throughout all of the school.

The school has extensive grounds and sporting facilities that include tennis, basketball, volleyball and netball courts. There are also handball courts and table tennis is offered.

All children have access to technology at this school and there is a strong focus on technology.

Limited teacher housing is available in Anakie State School, within walking distance of the school. It is a compliment to the town and community in that most of the teachers prefer to live at Anakie.

The current student enrolment is 85. The numbers fluctuate a little during the year, with about a 10% increase during the winter months. Multi-aging is encouraged at Anakie State School with all of the classes comprising more than one grade level.

Anakie State School provides a safe and caring environment for high quality learning. The school’s motto 'a sound mind in a sound body' reflects the commitment of teachers and the school community in encouraging every child to reach their full potential while promoting social responsibility that goes with being part of a community.

Anakie State School's core business is to achieve high standards in literacy and numeracy. Further, specialist support teachers in learning difficulties, reading and English as a Second Language are available for students with a diverse range of abilities. A special needs committee meets to oversee support services for individual students. The staff are supported by a guidance officer, mental health workers and Royal Bush Children’ Health Scheme specialists.
