Anakie State School was established in 1885 and has three double teaching blocks, an eKindy pod, a separate library building and a staff room. Air-conditioning units are installed throughout all of the school.
The school has extensive grounds and sporting facilities that a multi-purpose court that includes tennis, basketball and netball courts. There are also handball courts undercover.
All children have access to technology and there is a strong focus on technology. Desktop computers, laptops and iPads are available for daily use.
Limited teacher housing is available at Anakie, within walking distance of the school.
The current student enrolment is 60. The numbers fluctuate a little during the year, with about a 10% increase during the winter months. Multi-aging is encouraged at Anakie State School with all of the classes comprising more than one grade level. The three classrooms currently consist of Prep/one, 2/3/4 and 4/5/6.

Anakie State School's core business is to achieve high standards in literacy and numeracy. Further, specialist support teachers in learning difficulties, reading and English as a Second Language are available for students with a diverse range of abilities. A special needs committee meets to oversee support services for individual students. The staff are supported by a guidance officer, mental health workers and Royal Bush Children’ Health Scheme specialists.
